In September, Roman welcomed Mr. Thomas Karam to the faculty here at Broad and Vine.
Karam comes to us all the way from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Some may then wonder how he ended up
here in Philadelphia. The Alliance for Catholic Education is a program run through Notre Dame
University. Through this program, Notre Dame sends teachers throughout the United States to teach full-time in Catholic Schools
for two years while earning graduate degrees. At Roman, Mr. Karam teaches English and SAT
Prep to freshmen and sophomores. Having been here for a bit over a month, he can already tell that this is a
very close-nit building filled with tradition and smiling faces. However if he were to change one thing in
the building it would be reduce the amount of cookies in the building because they are too tempting to
resist. Mr Karam is working diligently to get involved in some clubs and meet new students outside of his
freshmen and sophomores. We welcome Mr. Karam into this Roman community as a fellow son of Cahill,
even though he is a New Orleans Saints fan.
