First place in the City Championship, second place in the SRRA National Championship, and one of Roman’s three Philadelphia Catholic League sports champions; These are just a few
of the accomplishments made by Roman Catholic’s rowing team.

After last year’s successes, Roman Crew is ready to capitalize and surpass this year. The team has been practicing all Fall on the historic Boathouse Row; rowing under the local boathouse, Crescent Boat Club. This fall, they have competed in the Navy Day Regatta, along with the Head of the Schuylkill competition. More events this season are scheduled for this spring.

After races, senior captains Kristjan Perry and Justin Frye, along with Head Coach Zack Coons, say they feel confident for the upcoming season, even this early in the year. “We can’t forget there is always room for improvement” Coach Coons adds.

There have also already been a large number of new freshman trying out for the team, along with other underclassmen wanting to give the sport a try. With such a large outcome,
Roman Crew will maintain its position as being one of the most prestigious high school rowing
teams in the country.
