Roman at Model Senate Forum

With the World Affairs club on March 3rd, I participated in a mock U.S. Senate on foreign relations along with several other Roman students hosted at Temple University. Hundreds of high school students from around the Philadelphia region came together to participate in this entertaining and engaging experience. Everyone represented a real U.S. Senator, a senator’s aide, journalist, or expert witness. The other expert witnesses and I testified to the Senators about various countries around the world and their relationships with the United States. The senators then came up with a plan to change foreign policy with the help of their aides. Lastly, all the students voted on each committee’s plan. The Model Senate was an incredibly cool and rewarding experience that I would gladly do again since it brought to life the real issues facing our world that we learn about in school.
